At KVS, we believe in the power of poetry and multilingualism as ways of imagining and expressing the city. For our contribution to Poetik Bazar, we have therefore chosen to present Marios Bellas and Alix Konadu, two multidisciplinary artists whose work embodies the creative energy, diversity and complexity of Brussels.
KVS is coming to Les Halles de Schaerbeek for the Poetik Bazar

At KVS, we believe in the power of poetry and multilingualism as ways of imagining and expressing the city.
For our contribution to Poetik Bazar, we have therefore chosen to present Marios Bellas and Alix Konadu, two multidisciplinary artists whose work embodies the creative energy, diversity and complexity of Brussels. In creations such as Hannibal, Burning City and 4 Muren, Marios and Alix move fluidly between languages, disciplines and artistic forms. Poetry is an essential part of their artistic language: a way of transforming personal experiences, different cultural references and the realities of the city into something that can be shared.
At Poetik Bazar, they will present a programme of texts in Dutch that brings the power of their poetry to the foreground: beautiful, sincere and challenging. Their poetry moves between languages, experiences and imaginaries and, like Brussels itself, finds its strength in multiplicity.

Reflections of a Child of Migration

I keep a collection of reflections and observations that emerge from my experience as a child of migration. Some grow out of conversations with family members, my Ghanaian grandmother, or a stranger on a train. Others are thoughts that I know resonate with those who grow up navigating between different worlds.

Today, I'd like to share one of these notes with you.

Marios Bellas & Ivan Azazian are known for their explosive energy and deeply political, revolutionary music. With punk-rap band State Collapse, Marios Bellas' solo rap project, and various music theatre productions (Vier Muren, Holy Womb), they have been enriching the Brussels scene for years. For this occasion, they are performing an intimate, acoustic set as an exception. Same spirit, different sounds.

Marios Bellas

Marios Bellas is a Greek-Dutch performer, rapper, and director. After graduating from the directing program at RITCS, he performed in several international productions, including EXTREME / MALECANE (Paola Pisciottano / Théâtre National), Hannibal (Junior Mthombeni / Michael De Cock / KVS), and Burning City (Junior Mthombeni / hetpaleis). In 2025, he made his directing debut with Vier Muren, a hip-hop ritual that toured Belgium and the Netherlands and received critical acclaim. Since 2022, he has been affiliated with the multidisciplinary collective SOCHA, with whom he co-created the ON FIRE-series (Theater Arsenaal / KVS). As a rapper, he debuted with Brussel and Fuck de Bureaucraten. In 2025, he made a strong impression with his debut album Honger and reached the finals of SoundTrack. He is also a member of the punk-rap band State Collapse.

Alix Konadu

Alix Konadu is a Brussels-based actress, musician, and theatre maker. Both on stage and behind the scenes, her work explores themes of migration, identity, and community. She has appeared on stage in productions by KVS, Het Nationale Theater, hetpaleis,… and on screen for VRT and VTM. As a maker and performer, she seeks new ways of connecting theatre with society, as in Fearless Noordwijk (created with and for undocumented people in Brussels' Maximiliaan Park) and through the collective SOCHA (On Fire, Hannibal, Burning City). Since 2023, she has directed the performances of WOMEN26, a collective of women campaigning against violence and injustice against women. She is currently developing her first multidisciplinary performance, Broken Home, My Shrine (produced by Moussem), which will premiere at KVS in October 2026. For this project, Alix delves into her Ghanaian heritage, exploring notions of home, diaspora, and memory. Her artistic practice combines social engagement with a physical and sensory approach to performance. At its core is the belief that stories should create space for multiple voices and perspectives, without reducing them to a single truth.
