La bibliothèque sonore des femmes

An installation of 15 telephones at Poetik Bazar, to connect visitors with writers from the past. A project by Julie Gilbert.
Bibliotheque sans fond

This project was born of the idea that perhaps we hadn't read enough about women writers because we didn't know them. The Bibliothèque sonore des femmes is an installation made up of 15 dial telephones. Each telephone, when picked up, connects us with a writer from the past through a recorded monologue.

A unique, intimate and surprising bond is created with the listener.

At Poetik Bazar, you will be connected with Octavia E. Butler, Adelheid Duvanel, Alejandra Pizarnik, Olympe de Gouges, Audre Lorde, Susan Sontag, Toni Morrison, Marianne Van Hirtum, Marie Vieux Chauvet, Marina Tsvetaeva, Emily Dickinson, Sappho, Fadwa Touqan, Monique Wittig, Isabelle Eberhardt.
