*À la place du pétrole*, by Swiss artist Maxime Sacchetto, is a literary and sound performance. On stage with gasoline cans used as percussion and a guitar for the melodic lines, Maxime will read his text accompanied by musical loops. *À la place du pétrole* is a gently cynical long poem, in the spirit of Ted Berrigan, that recounts attempts to escape capitalist violence.

Maxime Sacchetto’s project takes the form of a sound performance. On stage, he uses gasoline cans as percussion instruments and a guitar for the melodic lines. With a looper and various effects pedals, Maxime will create musical loops to accompany his reading. The performance will also be visual, as Maxime will—literally—play with fire, setting the pages of his text ablaze throughout the performance and creating various variations on this theme.

Maxime Sacchetto
Maxime Sacchetto is an author, musician, and member of the independent label Table Basse Records. The fluid nature of his artistic practices has led many of his texts to evolve into musical performances. Publishers such as PLF, La Chaise Jaune, and Gros Textes, as well as various literary journals, have supported his work for several years. His poetry focuses on the wondrous and subtle treasures that dot our existence—treasures from which the frenzy of daily life all too often distracts us. His first novel, *Jacques est sur le parking*, and his first collection of poetry, *Selon les conditions imposées par le soleil*, were published in 2023. In addition to his artistic practice, Maxime Sacchetto is an archaeologist.
