Shannon Sullivan is a poet and multidisciplinary performance artist. She calls her approach “Physical Poetry.” She took classical dance training at several renowned schools in the US. She also completed her training as a professional actress at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, and worked for several years as a freelance performer in New York. In 2004, she moved to Berlin to concentrate on creating her own pieces.
Her work focuses on the physical aspects of language and the interaction between poetry and movement. She regularly collaborates with musicians as part of her performances.
Shannon prefers an earthy, rhythmic language that emerges from the body rather than cerebral abstractions. Her work has been featured in numerous international festivals and her poems have been translated into German, French, Slovak and Italian.
