Born in Port-au-Prince, Stéphane Martelly is a writer, painter, and researcher. She is the author of a research-creation essay, Les jeux du dissemblable. Folie, marge et féminin en littérature haïtienne contemporaine (Nota bene, 2016). Her most recent publications include the poetry collection Inventaires and the illustrated book-poem L’enfant-Gazelle (Remue-ménage, 2018). In 2020, she founded the collection MARTIALES at Éditions du Remue-Ménage, dedicated to the writings of women of color. Stéphane Martelly is a professor in research-creation and Caribbean literatures at the Department of Arts, Languages, and Literatures at the Université de Sherbrooke. Since 2021, she has co-directed the transcultural research group VersUS.
